Raw Arctic is a 100% locally owned adventure company built by young Greenlandic entrepreneurs who turned their dream into a thriving reality. We exist to share the true Greenland: raw, untouched, and deeply authentic, while safeguarding the land that shaped us. With small-group tours, local guides, and a personal approach, we bring guests closer to towering icebergs, Arctic wildlife, and the wilderness in ways that feel genuine and meaningful.
Sustainability sits at the heart of everything we do. From catch-and-release fly fishing and solar-powered camps to educating guests about climate change, we work to ensure that Greenland’s pristine environment stays protected for generations to come. By hiring and training Greenlandic guides and collaborating with local hotels and boat operators, we strengthen our community while raising the standard for responsible tourism.
Whether you are sailing among icebergs, watching whales in deep fjords, or staying in a remote wilderness camp under the Arctic sky, our experiences forge real connections — to nature, to culture, and to the people who call this place home.
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern the booking and use of all services provided by Raw Arctic, a company organized under the laws of Greenland, with its principal place of business at Nuukullak 32, st, 3900 Nuuk, Greenland (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). These Terms apply to all bookings made directly through our website, by email, by telephone, or through any authorized third-party booking platform or travel agent.
By making a booking — whether for yourself or on behalf of others — the individual or entity (“Customer,” “you,” or “your”) confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and that they have the authority to accept these Terms on behalf of all persons included in the booking.
“Booking” means a confirmed reservation for any Service, evidenced by a written booking confirmation issued by Raw Arctic.
“Customer” means the individual who makes the booking and, where applicable, all persons included in or covered by that booking.
“Force Majeure Event” means any event beyond the reasonable control of Raw Arctic that prevents or materially impairs the delivery of a Service, including but not limited to: severe or unsafe weather conditions (including storms, sea ice, fog, and extreme wind); natural disasters (including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, flooding, and avalanches); epidemics, pandemics, or quarantine restrictions; acts of war, terrorism, civil unrest, or political instability; government actions, travel bans, border closures, or regulatory changes; failure or disruption of essential infrastructure (including airports, ports, energy supply, or communications); and labor disputes or strikes affecting essential service providers, provided that Raw Arctic has taken reasonable steps to mitigate the impact.
“Package Tour” means any booking that includes travel services (such as guided tours, accommodation, transport, and activities) sold or offered at an inclusive or total price.
“Day Tour” means a single-day guided excursion or activity that does not include overnight accommodation.
“Services” means all travel and experience-based services provided by Raw Arctic, including but not limited to guided tours, boat excursions, wilderness camp stays, accommodations, transportation, and related experiences in the Arctic region.
“Third-Party Costs” means all costs relating to flights, transfers, ground transportation, accommodation, and car rental arranged by Raw Arctic on behalf of the Customer through third-party suppliers.
“Tour Price” means the total booking price excluding Third-Party Costs. Where a booking includes both Raw Arctic’s own services and Third-Party Costs, the booking confirmation will itemize these components separately.
1.1 Raw Arctic Service Offerings
Raw Arctic provides travel and experience-based Services in the Arctic region. The specific inclusions and exclusions for each Service are set out in the relevant tour description, itinerary, or booking confirmation.
1.2 Modifications to Itineraries
Raw Arctic reserves the right to make minor modifications to any itinerary, route, or activity where reasonably necessary for operational, safety, or environmental reasons. Such modifications do not constitute a material change and do not entitle the Customer to cancellation or refund. Where a material change is required, Section 3.5 applies.
1.3 Conditionality of Natural Conditions
Certain activities described in marketing materials (such as wildlife sightings, northern lights viewing, or specific ice formations) are dependent on natural conditions and cannot be guaranteed. The absence of such conditions does not constitute a failure to deliver the Service and does not entitle the Customer to a refund.
1.4 Safety Plans
Raw Arctic maintains a written safety plan for each Service, comprising a risk assessment and an emergency response plan, in compliance with the Greenland Parliament Act on Tourism Activities. Safety plans are available to Customers in English upon request. Customers are encouraged to review the relevant safety plan prior to participation. Please note that Raw Arctic’s safety plans are currently maintained in English only; a Greenlandic-language version is in preparation and will be made available in due course.
1.5 Regulatory Compliance and Licensing
Raw Arctic holds a valid tourism activities licence issued by the Government of Greenland in accordance with the Greenland Parliament Act on Tourism Activities (effective 1 January 2025). Raw Arctic maintains all necessary insurances and operational approvals required to carry out its Services in a safe, legal, and responsible manner, including professional liability insurance as required by applicable Greenlandic legislation. Raw Arctic takes responsibility for the safety and wellbeing of its guests throughout the delivery of its Services, within the limits set out in these Terms.
Raw Arctic operates different payment structures depending on the type of booking. The applicable payment terms are determined by the category of Service booked and will be confirmed in writing at the time of booking.
2.1 Day Tours, Standard Ticket Sales, and Pre-Scheduled Departures
Full payment of the total price is required at the time of booking for all day tours, standard ticket sales, and pre-scheduled departures. No booking is confirmed until full payment has been received and a written confirmation has been issued.
2.2 Third-Party Costs (Applies to All Custom and Package Tours)
All Third-Party Costs — including flights, transfers, ground transportation, accommodation, and car rental arranged by Raw Arctic — are due in full at the time of booking, regardless of the payment option selected for the Tour Price. Third-Party Costs are subject to the cancellation terms of the relevant third-party suppliers and are non-refundable once booked. This applies equally under Option A and Option B below.
2.3 Custom and Package Tours — Option A: Full Payment at Booking
The Customer may elect to pay the full Tour Price at the time of booking. Where this option is selected, the booking is confirmed upon receipt of full payment (Tour Price plus any Third-Party Costs) and a written confirmation will be issued. The Customer’s selection of Option A will be recorded in the booking confirmation.
The following cancellation charges apply to the Tour Price under Option A:
Notice given before departure—Cancellation charge (Tour Price)
90 days or more—20% of Tour Price
60 to 89 days—50% of Tour Price
40 to 59 days—75% of Tour Price
Less than 40 days—100% of Tour Price (no refund)
Third-Party Costs are non-refundable and are not included in the above cancellation schedule. Any refund due under this schedule applies to the Tour Price only.
2.4 Custom and Package Tours — Option B: Deposit and Final Payment
Alternatively, the Customer may elect to secure a booking with a non-refundable deposit of 20% of the Tour Price at the time of booking, plus full payment of all Third-Party Costs. The remaining balance of 80% of the Tour Price is due no later than 40 days prior to the first activity arranged by Raw Arctic. Bookings made within 40 days of departure require full payment of the Tour Price at the time of booking. The Customer’s selection of Option B will be recorded in the booking confirmation.
The 20% deposit is non-refundable in all circumstances. The following charges apply to any Tour Price balance paid beyond the deposit:
Notice given before departure—Refund on Tour Price balance paid beyond deposit
90 days or more—Full refund of balance
60 to 89 days—50% refund of balance
40 to 59 days—25% refund of balance
Less than 40 days—No refund
Third-Party Costs are non-refundable and are not included in the above schedule.
2.5 Selection of Payment Option
The Customer must select either Option A or Option B at the time of booking. The selected option will be recorded in the booking confirmation. If no option is explicitly selected, Option B (deposit and final payment) will apply by default.
2.6 Remaining Balance
Where Option B has been selected, the remaining Tour Price balance must be settled no later than 40 days before the first tour arranged by Raw Arctic. If the balance is not received by the due date, Raw Arctic reserves the right to cancel the booking without refund of the deposit or any Third-Party Costs already paid. In such cases, Raw Arctic will use reasonable efforts to recover any Third-Party Costs from the relevant suppliers on the Customer’s behalf, though no recovery is guaranteed and Raw Arctic accepts no liability for unrecovered amounts.
2.7 Payment Methods and Currency
Payments can be made securely via credit card, bank transfer (no fees), or other available payment methods listed on our website. All prices are quoted and all transactions are processed in DKK (Danish Krone). The Customer acknowledges and accepts that all currency conversion fees, exchange rate fluctuations between the date of booking and the date of payment, and any other costs associated with paying in a currency other than DKK are the sole responsibility of the Customer. Raw Arctic is not liable for any additional cost incurred by the Customer as a result of currency conversion or exchange rate movements. Raw Arctic reserves the right to update accepted payment methods at any time with reasonable notice.
Credit Card Processing Fee: A processing fee of 3,5% will be applied to all payments made by credit card. This fee covers the costs charged to Raw Arctic by credit card payment processors and is non-refundable. The fee will be calculated on the total transaction amount and added at the time of payment. Customers wishing to avoid this fee may pay by bank transfer at no additional cost.
2.8 Late Payment
If any payment is not received by the due date, Raw Arctic reserves the right to treat the booking as cancelled by the Customer and apply the cancellation charges set out in the applicable section above. Raw Arctic will make reasonable efforts to contact the Customer before treating a booking as cancelled.
2.9 Bookings on Behalf of Others
Where a Customer makes a booking on behalf of other persons, the Customer warrants that they have the authority to accept these Terms on behalf of all persons in the booking, that they have informed those persons of these Terms, and that all information provided (including health information) is accurate and complete. The Customer accepts responsibility for all payments due in respect of the booking.
3.1 Package Tours — Customer Cancellation
All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to info@rawarctic.com. The date on which written notice of cancellation is received by Raw Arctic will determine the applicable cancellation charge.
Deposits are non-refundable. Third-Party Costs are non-refundable. Cancellation charges on the Tour Price are applied in accordance with the schedules set out in Sections 2.3 or 2.4, depending on the payment option selected.
3.2 Day Tours and Standard Ticket Sales — Customer Cancellation
Cancellations made at least 72 hours before departure will be refunded in full. Cancellations made less than 72 hours before departure will not be refunded. Failure to appear at the scheduled time, including late arrival, will be considered a no-show and is non-refundable.
3.3 Cancellation by Raw Arctic Due to Force Majeure
Raw Arctic operates in a remote Arctic environment where weather conditions, sea states, and other natural factors can change rapidly and without warning. The safety of our guests and crew is our absolute priority.
Raw Arctic reserves the right to cancel, curtail, or modify any Service in the event of a Force Majeure Event where continuing operations would be unsafe or impracticable. Where a Service is cancelled due to a Force Majeure Event, Raw Arctic will as a first resort offer rescheduling to an alternative date or a credit note valid for 24 months from the date of cancellation. Where rescheduling and a credit note are both genuinely not possible, Raw Arctic will consider a partial refund of the Tour Price at its reasonable discretion, excluding any Third-Party Costs and non-recoverable expenditure already incurred. The Customer acknowledges that this reflects the inherent unpredictability of Arctic conditions and that Raw Arctic’s ability to offer refunds in such circumstances may be limited by unrecoverable third-party commitments.
Where a tour is cancelled due to a Force Majeure Event, Raw Arctic will use reasonable efforts to offer rescheduling or an alternative experience, subject to available capacity. However, no guarantee of rescheduling or alternatives is given, and all such arrangements are offered at Raw Arctic’s sole discretion.
The Customer is solely responsible for securing comprehensive travel insurance to cover losses arising from Force Majeure Events, including trip cancellation, curtailment, and delay. Raw Arctic strongly recommends that all Customers obtain such insurance prior to departure, as set out in Section 4.
3.4 Cancellation Due to Third-Party Supplier Failure
Where a cancellation, delay, or failure of service by a third-party provider (such as an airline, tour operator, hotel, or transport operator) affects a booking, Raw Arctic will use reasonable efforts to arrange a suitable alternative. However, Raw Arctic is not liable for refunds, compensation, or costs arising from the acts or omissions of third-party service providers. The Customer is solely responsible for securing adequate travel insurance to cover such events.
Where the third-party failure is caused by a Force Majeure Event, Section 3.3 applies.
3.5 Cancellation or Modification by Raw Arctic (Non-Force Majeure)
In the event that Raw Arctic cancels or materially alters a confirmed booking for reasons other than a Force Majeure Event, we will notify the Customer in writing as soon as reasonably practicable and offer either a suitable alternative arrangement of comparable standard, or a full refund of all monies paid to us. The Customer may choose between the alternative and the refund. Raw Arctic is not liable for consequential losses beyond the refund of the tour price.
4.1 Insurance Requirements
The Customer is required to obtain comprehensive travel insurance prior to the date of departure. As a minimum, the policy should cover trip cancellation and curtailment (including cancellation due to weather and Force Majeure Events), medical emergencies and evacuation from remote locations, personal liability, travel disruptions and delays, loss of luggage, and all activities included in the booked itinerary.
4.2 Medical Evacuation Coverage
Given the remote Arctic environment in which Raw Arctic operates, medical evacuation costs can be substantial. The Customer is solely responsible for ensuring their insurance provides adequate coverage for emergency evacuation from remote locations.
4.3 Proof of Insurance
The Customer must be prepared to provide proof of valid travel insurance upon request.
4.4 Limitation of Liability
Raw Arctic assumes no liability for any loss, damage, injury, delay, or additional expense that would have been covered by appropriate travel insurance. This includes, without limitation, losses arising from Force Majeure cancellations as described in Section 3.3.
5.1 Physical Requirements
Raw Arctic’s services involve outdoor activities in a remote Arctic environment, which may include boat travel in open water, hiking over uneven or steep terrain, exposure to extreme cold, wind, and rapidly changing weather conditions, and limited access to medical facilities. Certain tours and activities require a minimum level of physical fitness. Where specific fitness requirements apply, they will be stated in the relevant tour description.
5.2 Health Disclosure
The Customer must disclose any medical condition, disability, allergy, dietary requirement, or medication that may affect their ability to safely participate in any Service, or that Raw Arctic’s staff may need to be aware of in the event of an emergency. This disclosure must be made at the time of booking or, for conditions arising after booking, as soon as reasonably practicable.
Failure to disclose a relevant health condition may result in the Customer being excluded from an activity or tour without refund, and may limit Raw Arctic’s liability in the event of an incident.
5.3 Right to Refuse Participation
Raw Arctic reserves the right, acting reasonably and in the interest of safety, to refuse participation or modify a Customer’s itinerary where the Customer’s physical condition, health, behavior, or level of fitness poses a risk to themselves or others. Such decisions will be made by the tour guide or expedition leader on the ground and are final. No refund will be issued where participation is refused on safety grounds.
5.4 Safety Instructions
The Customer must comply with all safety instructions, briefings, and directions given by Raw Arctic guides, crew, and staff at all times. The Customer acknowledges that failure to follow safety instructions may result in serious injury or death and that non-compliance releases Raw Arctic from liability to the fullest extent permitted by law.
5.5 Intoxication and Hazardous Behavior
If a Customer is deemed to be intoxicated or engages in behavior that may endanger the safety of themselves, other guests, guides, or the environment, Raw Arctic reserves the right to refuse boarding, curtail, or terminate the Customer’s participation immediately. No refund will be issued. The Customer may be held liable for any costs, damages, or losses resulting from their conduct, including but not limited to operational disruption, property damage, emergency response costs, and any compensation claims from other affected guests.
5.6 Age and Minor Participation
Guests under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at all times during any Service. The accompanying adult accepts full responsibility for the minor’s safety, conduct, and compliance with these Terms.
6.1 Scope of Liability
Raw Arctic accepts liability for the proper performance of the Services included in the booking, subject to the limitations set out in these Terms. Raw Arctic shall not be liable for any loss, damage, injury, or delay caused by a Force Majeure Event as defined in these Terms, the act or omission of the Customer (including failure to follow safety instructions or disclose health conditions), the act or omission of a third party unconnected with the provision of the Services, or events which Raw Arctic or its suppliers, even with all due care, could not foresee or forestall.
6.2 Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Raw Arctic’s total aggregate liability in connection with any booking shall not exceed the total price paid by the Customer for that booking. Raw Arctic shall not be liable for any indirect, consequential, or special damages, including but not limited to lost income, lost enjoyment, or costs of alternative travel arrangements.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits Raw Arctic’s liability for death or personal injury caused by Raw Arctic’s negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
6.3 Liability Waiver for High-Risk Activities
For Services involving higher-risk outdoor activities — including but not limited to boat excursions in Arctic waters, hiking in remote terrain, snowmobiling, skiing, wilderness camping, and travel to locations with limited emergency access — Raw Arctic may require all participants to sign a separate Activity Risk Acknowledgment and Waiver form prior to participation. By signing, the Customer acknowledges the inherent risks of the activity, confirms they are participating voluntarily, and agrees that Raw Arctic shall not be liable for injury, loss, or damage arising from the inherent risks of the activity, to the fullest extent permitted by law. This waiver does not exclude liability for injury or loss caused by Raw Arctic’s negligence or willful misconduct.
6.4 Indemnification
The Customer agrees to indemnify and hold Raw Arctic harmless from any claims, costs, or expenses arising from the Customer’s own negligence, willful misconduct, or failure to comply with these Terms, including but not limited to failure to follow safety instructions, failure to disclose health conditions, damage to Raw Arctic property or equipment, or any liability incurred by Raw Arctic as a result of the Customer’s conduct toward third parties.
7.1 Minimum Group Size
Certain tours require a minimum number of participants to operate. The minimum group sizes are as follows:
Vessel—Maximum Capacity—Minimum Participants
Targa 25—6 guests—3 participants
Targa 37+—12 guests—6 participants
Additional vessels or activities may have different minimum requirements, which will be stated in the tour description or booking confirmation.
7.2 Right to Postpone or Cancel
If the minimum number of participants is not met no later than 12 hours before the scheduled departure (unless otherwise stated in the tour description), Raw Arctic reserves the right to reschedule the tour to a different date or departure time, or cancel the tour with a full refund issued.
7.3 Customer Options When a Tour Is Rescheduled
When a tour is rescheduled due to insufficient participants, the Customer may accept the new date or departure time, or cancel the reservation free of charge and receive a full refund.
7.4 Refunds for Operator-Initiated Cancellations
If Raw Arctic cancels a tour for reasons unrelated to a Force Majeure Event, a full refund of the amount paid for the tour will be issued. The refund covers the Tour Price only.
7.5 Notification
All notices of changes or cancellations will be sent to the email address and/or phone number provided at the time of booking. Customers are responsible for ensuring their contact details are accurate and up to date.
8.1 Data Protection Compliance
Raw Arctic collects and processes personal data in accordance with applicable Greenlandic data protection legislation, including the Act on Processing of Personal Data (Inatsisartutlov om behandling af personoplysninger), as well as applicable Danish data protection legislation.
8.2 Policy Acknowledgment
By making a booking, the Customer acknowledges that they have read and understood the Terms of Service. Where Raw Arctic collects health or medical information (as described in Section 5.2), separate explicit consent will be obtained in accordance with applicable Greenlandic data protection legislation governing the processing of sensitive personal data.
8.3 Photography and Video Consent
The Customer consents to Raw Arctic using photographs and video footage taken during tours for marketing and promotional purposes, unless the Customer opts out in writing prior to or during the tour. This consent is voluntary and may be withdrawn at any time by contacting info@rawarctic.com.
Raw Arctic may refuse service, deny boarding, or cancel any booking where the Customer fails to adhere to these Terms, fails to make payment when due, engages in conduct that endangers safety, or provides false or misleading information (including health disclosures). Where termination is due to the Customer’s fault, no refund will be issued.
10.1 Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Greenland.
10.2 Dispute Resolution
In the event of a dispute arising from or in connection with these Terms, the parties shall first attempt to resolve the matter amicably through direct negotiation. If the dispute cannot be resolved within 30 days, either party may refer the matter to mediation administered by a mutually agreed mediator in Nuuk, Greenland.
10.3 Jurisdiction
If mediation does not resolve the dispute, the courts of Greenland shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
10.4 Legal Framework Acknowledgment
The Customer acknowledges that Raw Arctic is a Greenlandic company operating under Greenlandic law and that these Terms have been drafted in accordance with Greenlandic legal requirements.
Raw Arctic reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time. Any changes will be published on our website. Changes will not apply retroactively to bookings that have already been confirmed under a previous version of these Terms. For material changes that may affect upcoming bookings, Customers will be notified in writing.
If any provision of these Terms is found by a court or competent authority to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it enforceable, or if modification is not possible, severed from these Terms. The remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
All notices required or permitted under these Terms shall be in writing and delivered by email, by hand, or by recorded post. Notices to Raw Arctic shall be sent to info@rawarctic.com. Notices to the Customer shall be sent to the email address provided at the time of booking. A notice is deemed received on the date of email delivery (as recorded by the sender’s email system), on the date of hand delivery, or three business days after posting by recorded mail.
